On his March, 2012 trip to Nairobi, Kenya Bill visited a sanctuary created in 1977 and managed by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust which, in part, offers care and sustenance to newborn elephants who have been orphaned. The Trust is dedicated to the protection and preservation of Africa's wilderness and its denizens, particularly endangered species such as elephants and the black rhino. The trust offers a fostering program and Bill signed up for a year to foster "Naipoki" as a gift for his 9-year old great niece Georgie of London, England.

Photo shows one of two daily feeding sessions for some of the elephants being cared for at the sanctuary. Once grown and returned to good health, they are reintroduced to the wild in Tsavo East National Park, Kenya.
